An SMSF must hold an investment strategy as part of the requirements of the SIS Act, and it must be reviewed at least annually.
Recently, the ATO has provided guidance to where an investment strategy is not considered valid under the SIS Act. This includes tailoring the strategy to be specific to the SMSFs circumstances rather than a document which merely repeats the words in the legislation.
